The Validation panel is designed to help and support you by providing warnings and errors in the schedule which in turn prevents mistakes.
Using the Validation Panel
The validation panels are located in the bottom right corner of the screen and are separated into two panels: global issues and vehicle issues.
If there are issues found in your schedule, the panel will display a red exclamation mark icon. It will also tell where the issues are located (vehicle or duty schedule).
Validating preferences
When making manual adjustments to your schedule, you can make sure that your schedule meets the preferences by clicking the validation button next to the validation tool.
It is also possible to make changes to the preferences and use the validation tool to see if the schedule suffices for those changes. To do that, you can make changes to the preferences and save them - after saving you can click the validation button and check if there are any violations.
For example, if your union wants to extend the lunch break from 30 to 40 minutes, you can adjust the break preference on your current schedule and require a 40 minutes break, then you can just click the validation button and see how many of your current duties are violating this rule.
Identifying validation issues on your schedule
Click on the validation panel to see a list of all the errors and warnings for that schedule.
Work your way through each of the validations like a checklist; see if you want to ignore the warnings by clicking on the checkbox next to the warning and clicking Dismiss Issues.
If you want to look further into these issues and fix them you can do the following:
Click on the checkbox next to the warning and click Filter Issues in the bottom left corner of the panel.
You will now see that the schedule is only showing the vehicles with those issues selected. You can see in detail what the issue is by clicking on any IDs with the red exclamation mark next to it. Any trips/deadheads that have issues will have a red border around them.
Fixing Issues
After identifying validation issues on your schedule, you can start fixing them. Click here to learn how to fix common issues in the validation panel.
