This article will help you identify areas of your schedule preferences to consider checking if optimizations are either taking too long or timing out without a result.
Solutions
Limit short pieces
Add the limit short pieces preference.
Limit short pieces exist
It’s set to a low piece duration (under 60\75) - raise it to a minimum of 90 (minutes).
Verify relief points/timing preference is defined
(i.e. exists and not paused) and defined correctly.
Verify breaks preference is defined
(i.e. exists and not paused) and defined correctly.
Verify split break definition is defined
(i.e. exists and not paused) and defined correctly.
Multiple preference groups
Check they are limited to specific route groups.
Verify Route groups (for preference groups) are defined (i.e. exists and not paused) and defined correctly.
Verify duty types are defined correctly
Common cases:
Duty types are defined without any work time or spread time ranges, or have a minimum of 0:00 while the minimum is 5h. The optimization uses Spread and work time as fast rejects in the duty candidate creation process.
Public Transportation (Duty Travel)
If the schedule uses public transportation then ensure the ‘Maximum transfers’ parameter has been set to 0 (or no more than 1).
