This article will help you to identify the specific problem when troubleshooting issues in the validation panel, specifically around route groups and interlining.
Validations issues concerning route groups and interlining will typically be highlighted via the trip connection violation issue.
Potential Issues
Missing routes in the route group
Not all relevant routes are in the route group.
Wrong routes in the route group
Incorrect routes in the route group.
Contradicting rules in Trip Connections
The route appears in two separate trip connection definitions which each do the opposite of each other.
Check the route groups and trip connections preference and ensure all route groups and trip connection definitions have only the relevant routes, or route groups, assigned to them. Once you have updated the preferences you can then re-validation the schedule to check if the issue has been fixed.
Example route group issue:
The following vehicle has highlighted an issue between trips from route 17 and route 2:
Going into the Route Groups, we can see the Route Group of Town RG does not currently include route 17.
Solution:
Determine if route 17 should be part of the Town RG route group. If yes, add the route to the route group and then re-validate the schedule to see if the issue is fixed. If no, you can either manually move the trips from the affected vehicle to the stack or to another vehicle where the trips will not cause further validation issues.
Optimizing will rebuild the schedule and adhere to the specific rules of the route groups and trip connections preferences.
Example trip connection issue:
The validation panel highlights two different trip connections issues.
Going into the trip connections preference, we can see there is two templates loaded controlling how trips should be interlined. There is a no interlining rule for route 17, but route 17 is also part of the Town RG route group.
Solution:
Determine which rule that route 17 should adhere to, and remove route 17 from the irrelevant route group. Remember to remove any instances of trip connections that may no longer be applicable to the schedule (for example, if you have deleted the no interlining route 17 route group, delete the associated trip connection preference).
