Preference groups

Define groups of drivers that share common characteristics.

S-040-V5-EN

Preference groups is a non-templated preference that defines the names of the groups of drivers. You can assign roles to each group. For example, different groups can start and end in different locations, or some can do certain routes while others cannot (like school routes).

You can also set different preferences for your groups. For example, suppose there is a driver group with domestic rules and a driver group with EU regulations. In that case, they will have different laws regarding duty breaks, so you can create preferences based on each preference group and their requirements. You can also control a variety of characteristics like the number of duties for each preference group.

Adding preference groups

  1. While in your schedule, open Preferences.

  2. Find and click Preference Groups in the Misc section.

  3. Click + Add Preference.

  4. Click + Add New Group.

  5. Name the group.

  6. Optionally, set a Penalty for the group. The penalty will apply per violation of a preference assigned to this group.

  7. Also optionally, you can Exclude the group from optimization. This means that this group will not be subject to changes made during optimization.

  8. Repeat steps 4 to 7 for every group you’d like to create.

  9. Save and close the preferences.

Setting a default preference group

Upon setup, the first preference group in the list is treated as default. This can be changed by selecting a different group in the Default: drop-down above the list.
