Algorithms define how the optimization process is run. Before optimizing the schedule, you need to add an algorithm parameter template to your preferences. The default algorithm that should be used in most cases is Advanced Fixed Blocks (AFB).
To use the preference, follow these steps:
While in your schedule, open Preferences.
Switch to the All tab underneath the search bar.
Find and click on Algorithm Parameters in the Misc tab.
Click Load Template at the bottom of the menu.
Go to the Optibus tab which contains all the pre-saved templates.
Further steps depend on the algorithm you want to enable, so you can follow the instructions in one of the paragraphs below.
Enabling AFB
In the Optibus templates tab, find and click AFB, then click Apply.
Make sure the Vehicles VIP version is set to 2 or 3.
Click Save & Close.
Enabling DEEP
The DEEP optimization algorithm enables vehicle modification along with duty optimization. To enable it, follow these steps:
In the Optibus templates tab, find and click DEEP, then click Apply.
Search for and click the Trip Connections preference.
Mouse over +Trip connections and click Load Trip Connections.
Go to the Optibus tab, search for the Pull reliefs template.
Add Pull relief stops.
Save & Close.
Note: while using DEEP, make sure of the following:
The Midday park constraint should be turned off.
Relief car Pairing should be turned off.
