Embedded time definitions

Updated over 2 weeks ago

S-059-V2-EN

After creating a schedule, the platform can assess relevant time periods. These include spread time, work time, driving time, and others. They can be shown as a column on the left side of the screen. To enable that, click on Stats, search for the time that needs to be analyzed, and click Apply.

The platform includes most relevant time definitions, but because these can be labeled differently across systems, we will explain their meaning within the Optibus platform below.

Spread time

This includes the entire duration of the duty, from the first sign on to the last sign off.

Work time

This includes the entire duration of the duty, except split breaks. If there is no split, the work time and spread time will be the same, as seen below:

However, when the duty includes a split, the work time will be shorter.

Driving time

This includes all the driving events and is the sum of the durations of deadheads, depot pull-outs, depot pull-ins and service trips. It does not include layovers.
