Set Relief Timing Types

S-051-V2-EN

Relief timing refers to the attended or unattended layovers and when drivers can be relieved during those layovers. With different relief timing types you can define at what point of the layover the relief must happen.

You can set the relief time in the Relief Timing preference as shown below:

Note: If nothing is defined in the relief timing preference, the default state of the relief time is Arrival & Departure i.e. no attendance.

Once you select the Before Departure, After arrival & before departure, or On arrival & before departure option of relief timing, you will see a field to set the amount of time before departure (in minutes), on arrival, etc. These minutes refer to the attended time as shown below:

If this preference is set when you optimize the schedule, it will be applied to the schedule automatically after the optimization. However, if you want to change this preference after optimization, in order to update the schedule you can click on Revise events, tick Attendance and apply the changes as shown below:

Let’s add the relief timing instance of applying the relief On Arrival and modifying the attendance on the schedule as shown below:

Once you update the schedule you will see that the relief has been applied on the arrival of trips as shown below:

Let’s add another Relief timing instance where the stop of relief is only the depot and you want to keep it unattended:

To apply the relief timing rules on the depot, reposition the second instance to make it the first instance in order to prioritize it. By defining the depot with the type of relief timing of Arrival & departure you are specifying that the depot is unattended while all the other stops are attended as shown below:

You can now see that the depot is unattended whereas all the other stops are attended:

A layover will not have the grey line of attendance in the schedule between two trips because a relief has not been defined on it. It will be an attended layover but attendance can only be visible on a schedule if relief occurs:

In Optibus you can only select a single state of relief timing (Arrival, Departure, On arrival & before departure, etc.) for a specific layover. You cannot choose if drivers relieve on Arrival for example, but also consider a few minutes Before departure. You can only select one relief time option per instance.
