S-047-V3-EN
Relief or Changeover is the replacement of a driver on a vehicle by another driver on the same vehicle.
Drivers can be relieved for any reason including going on a break, switching to a different vehicle, or ending their duty. The driver boarding the vehicle might be doing so for the same reasons - after finishing a break, after switching from a different vehicle, or when starting their duty.
The relief point, or relief location, is a designated point on a route where operators or crew may be scheduled to begin or end their duty or a piece of their duty, including the depot itself.
In Scheduling, you can define rules, and enable or disable the use of the relief points that were defined in the dataset or timetable.
Set Relief Points
Go to Preferences
on the top menu bar of your schedule.Find Relief points in the Drivers section or using the search bar.
Hover over the Relief Point button and click on New Relief Point to define which relief points you can allow to cut the vehicles.
4. Complete the fields for the relief point. These fields let you add filters to define the relief points, also called instances.
Name: The name of the relief point, you can set it as Relief Point - *name of the route.
Route: The route on which the relief point applies to. Click on the dropdown menu and select the relevant route or route groups for the relief point.
Times Applied: With this field you can limit the relevant relief points to specific times of the day. You can set time within range, outside range, or all day.
Placement in route: With this field you can allow the relief to happen only Mid route, Start/End stops or Start/End and Mid-route:
Stops: With this field you can define specific stops as relief points. You can set one or several stops as the relief point.
Include depots: With this option you can include the depots as the relief point:
Drive to relief: With this option, you can define if a vehicle will be driven to the relief point.
Note: When a relief happens after a deadhead and not directly after a service trip, the route allocation of the relief point for the stop of the deadhead will be the route before the deadhead. For example, the relief point for the deadhead will be under route 13 as shown below:
Since the deadhead’s stop is Hillsborough Intc and the relief point for the deadhead will be under route 13 this is how the relief point preference will be set:
You can add as many Relief Points as you want. Adding multiple Relief Points works in an `AND` manner - a relief point will be valid if it falls under all relevant instances (i.e. that match the route and the time range, in addition to any other custom filter).
The order of the Relief Points determines how they will be applied, with higher-positioned ones taking priority over lower ones. To change the order, hover over a rule and use the arrows to move it up or down until the desired order is set.
View relief points on timeplan
The relief points in the timeplan’s Route tab when you click on a stop are the possible places for the driver to be relieved. These are defined either on the terminal stop or mid route as shown below:
