The Duty Types preference lets you create the foundation for duties. This includes specifying the start and end times of duties, the minimum and maximum spread durations, and defining other crucial criteria.
Below you will find some of the duty validation errors that may occur and instructions on how to resolve them.
Duty Type Not Allowed
You might encounter this validation error while managing your schedule. It happens because the system cannot determine a suitable duty type based on your preferences. As a result, the duty type will be labeled as Other.
This issue can occur, for example, if you set a rule that duties cannot start before 06:30 am, but a duty is scheduled for 06:00 am. In such cases, the system cannot assign a valid duty type.
Implementing the following checks can assist in identifying the cause of this error:
Duty Type - Definition - make sure the duty is allowed and comes within the time frame specified under that duty type.
Preference Group assigned - make sure that the correct preference group has been assigned to the duty type.
Duty type Mismatch
This error shows up when the duty does not align with the definition specified in the selected duty type. For instance, if the duty has a 10-hour spread time and is categorized under a 4-day duty type, but it has been manually modified to be a 5-day duty, which can only support 8-hour spread duties.
When the duty type status is highlighted in orange, it indicates that the duty type has been manually changed. To revert the duty type to its original settings, follow these steps:
Select the duty you want to reset.
Click on the pencil icon.
In the Duty Type drop-down menu, choose the Reset option.
This will restore the duty type to its default configuration.
Important considerations for duty type assignments
Priority Order: The system prioritizes duty types based on the order in which they are defined. Keep in mind that there is an overlap in the duty types definition. To increase visibility for specific duties, place them higher on the list. You can rearrange the order by clicking and dragging the duties on the left side.
Comprehensive Coverage. Ensure that your defined duty types span all times of the day. This step helps avoid instances of unwanted duties that might otherwise occur.
