While in your schedule, open Preferences.
Find and click Custom Duty Preference in the Drivers section. Make sure you are in the All tab if you have not applied this preference before.
Click on the button under the Drivers tab.
Hover over the + Custom Duty Preference button and click Load Custom Duty Preference.
Go to the Optibus tab.
Type in the name of the template you need. Each of the headings below is a template name, so you can just copy and paste them.
Click on the template and click Apply.
Below you will find some of the most commonly used templates of this preference.
Pref Group - Route Groups
This template lets you create a connection between a preference group and a route group, meaning that you expect certain preference groups to operate certain routes. After loading the template, follow these steps:
Name the instance of the preference.
Select the preference groups to connect to a route group in the Pref. groups drop-down.
Select the route group in the drop-down of the same name.
Save and close the preferences.
Note: If you have any custom work in your schedule, use the Pref group - route group and custom routes template instead. The instructions above still apply.
Pref Group - Must have routes
If you want to make it mandatory for some preference group(s) to operate a certain route, you should use the Pref Group - Must have routes template. After loading the template, follow these steps:
Give a Name to this instance.
Select the preference groups and the route group you want them to operate.
Save and close the preferences.
Pref group - By depot
This template works similarly to the two above, but instead of routes, it makes preference groups operate by depot of your choice.
Limit short and long pieces
These templates help you improve the optimization time by restricting potential pieces to a certain length. Learn more about them in this article.
Disallow Interlining
Disallow Interlning between two Route Groups is a template that can help you make sure that routes from group A will not be scheduled in the same duty with routes from group B. After loading the template, follow these steps:
Give a Name to the preference instance.
Select the route groups you want to prevent from interlining in the Group A and Group B drop-downs.
Optionally, you can also select a preference group this rule will be limited to.
This will mean that group A and group B routes are not allowed to be scheduled together only in the duties of that specific preference group, but it’s still allowed in others.
Penalize Idle Trips By Distance
This template lets you set a penalty on the idle (non-service) trips in the schedule. After loading the template, follow these steps:
Give a Name to the preference instance.
Set the Distance Cost (in the currency of your system, per kilometer or mile).
Decide whether to include deadheads and pulls into that calculation.
Optionally, limit the penalty to certain preference groups using the Pref. groups drop-down.
