Deadhead Generator Overview

Updated over 2 weeks ago

S-030-V3-EN

The Optibus platform does not only rely on the deadheads in the catalog.

If a deadhead exists in the catalog then it will be used.

If a deadhead is not in the catalog, the platform will generate it.

A generated deadhead will be marked with an orange dot in the Gantt view.

Deadheads are generated based on a formula that may not be accurate enough, and they require checks to make sure they align with what should be assigned.

Use the generated deadheads as a recommendation. It allows you to consider new options. However, they should not be used without a scheduler’s sign-off.

Extra Time for Generated Deadheads

Before optimizing your schedule, it is recommended to use the Deadhead Filter preference to load the template Extra duration for generated deadheads.

Here, the percentage of extra time for deadheads can be specified:

For example, if you specify 30 for the Layover percentage, upon optimization, any generated deadheads will get 30% extra time. This may help generate more realistic deadhead durations. However, it should still not be used without a scheduler’s sign-off.
