Use sets of preferences for the same schedule

Updated over 2 weeks ago

S-097-V1-EN

The Optibus platform gives you the ability to define several sets of preferences for the same schedule. This is commonly used to allow you to capture several different union agreements, and can be achieved using a preference called Preference groups.

Preference groups can be used both to capture several different union agreements for the same schedule as previously described, but also can be used to define different preferences for certain routes, such as limit duty count for a specific group, or if we want a specific number of duties that adhere to different rules (e.g. more flexible break rules, etc.).

To set the preference groups:

1. Search Preference Group and click Add preference.

2. Select + Add new preference group:

  • Name the preference group

  • Set up a penalty for this group in case you wish the crew optimization to prefer this preference group less (i.e - the bigger the penalty is, the fewer duties from this preference group will be created during optimization).

  • Tick the "exclude from optimization" in case you wish the optimization process to ignore this group during the crew optimization process (i.e. the group's preferences will not influence the crew optimization process).

Note that the first group that you create will be the default group, in case you wish to change it, select a different group at the top of the preference.

Once the preference groups were created, it is optional to differentiate between the preferences values that will be applied to the different groups. At the top right of relevant driver preferences, there will be a filter to choose a relevant preference group. Each instance of preference can be applied to 1 or more groups - according to the requirement. That will enable you to set the relevant rules and values per each group.

In addition, when reviewing the Gantt with preference groups defined, you can add the "Preference group" stat to your schedule in order to view the duties with this information included.

Manually edit preference group

You can manually edit the preference group per specific duty or multiple duties, to assign them to a different group than the default one.
