Custom duty and vehicle events

Updated over 2 weeks ago

S-071-V3-EN

A custom event is an event you can add manually to your schedule, without it being previously imported or carried over from Planning. Custom events include activities such as green roads, controller work, spares, and union tasks.

In this article, we will walk you through the process of creating a custom event within an existing duty or creating a new duty around the event.

Note: Optimizing the schedule will remove the event unless you lock the duty it is included in.

Adding custom events to an existing duty or vehicle

To add a custom event to an existing duty in the schedule, follow these steps.

  1. Click the pencil icon to enter manual scheduling mode:

  2. Find the duty you would like to add a custom event to, and hover your cursor over the place in the duty you would like to add the event. Usually, it’s at the beginning or end of a piece. A plus sign will appear.

  3. Click on the plus sign and the event window will pop up.

  4. Open the Type drop-down and select the type of event you are creating.

    • If you are adding a duty event in the Crew schedule tab, you can also click +New to add a new custom event type.

    • Some event types are context-dependent. For instance, Pre- and Post-trip events can only be added at the start and end of a vehicle day respectively.

  5. Depending on the type of event you are creating, you may need to set its Locations, Start and End times, or Duration.

  6. Once done, click Add.

The custom event will appear on the duty schedule. Unless specified otherwise, the Location will be set according to the location of the previous event.
