Manual schedule editing

The Optibus platform provides a comprehensive editing tool to your schedule and enables editing not only the trips data of each vehicle or duty but also its details such as ID, comments, etc.

In this article, you will briefly learn how to use the manual editing tool on the following:

  • Edit a vehicle / duty ID

  • Move a vehicle / duty to another line

  • Attach a vehicle / duty to the top

  • Add a duty comment

  • Table view

  • Lock vehicles or duties

  • Lock a schedule

  • Layers

  • Undo and Redo Actions

Editing vehicle / duty IDs

The vehicle or duty ID can be edited for different purposes.
For example, in case you want to change the ID according to the vehicle or duty type, or according to certain trips that the vehicle performs.

In order to do so, go to the schedule (duties or vehicles):

  1. Click on the vehicle / duty ID and then on the EDIT button.

  2. Once you do so, you will have the option to type a new ID.

  3. Click Save. The new ID will be marked in orange. (Note that in case the ID already exists, a red frame will mark the ID and it will not change).

Moving a vehicle / duty to another line

Sometimes, you want to move the vehicle / duty to another line, in order to compare it with other vehicles or duties, or simply to make the display easier for you.
In order to do so, perform the following:

  1. Click on the vehicle / duty ID, and choose MOVE.

  2. Click on the row that you wish to move the vehicle / duty to. Note that you can right-click the trip and choose Move or Move to a new row.

Pinning a vehicle / duty to the top

Sometimes you want to mark a vehicle / duty to be visible when scrolling through the Gantt.
In order to do so:

  1. Hover on the candidate vehicle / duty, and a pin sign will appear

  2. Click on the pin sign - the vehicle / duty will be attached to the top of the Gantt. (Note that you can pin several vehicles/duties to the top)

  3. To unpin the vehicle or duty, click on the pin sign again.

Adding duty comments

At the duties schedule, you have the option to add a comment, in which you can write whatever you want, in order to get more information regarding this duty. To add a comment. perform the following:

  1. Click on the duty ID to open the duty details window.

  2. Click on the add/edit comment sign and write your comment.

  3. When done click the 'V' sign.

In order to make the comments visible on the schedule, you can simply apply the duty comments at the Scheduling Stats .

Table view

In case you want to get a detailed list of the vehicle's or duty's trips data, you can simply use the table view option which provides you a list of all the events of the duty or vehicle - trip times, trip stops, duration, and distance.

To open the table view:

  1. Click on the vehicle/duty ID.

  2. Click on the table view button at the pop-up window.

Locking vehicles or duties

Locking schedules

In case you want to lock the entire schedule, you can do so by clicking on the lock sign next to the schedule's name.

By performing this action, you can choose from the following options -

  • Lock the schedule to be editable only by you

  • Lock the schedule to be a read-only file, which means no one can edit it.

  • Keep the schedule editable to anyone.

Note: you can change the editing mode of the schedule - meaning that you can unlock a schedule that was previously locked by you.

Read-Only (Locked by roster)

When you create a roster schedule based on a duty schedule, the duty schedule will become locked by that roster.

In order to continue working on this duty schedule and see the effects in the roster you’re working on, you should:

  1. Click the menu icon (top-left) and use Save As to save it as a new schedule

  2. Make the desired changes

  3. Create a new Roster schedule based on the newly saved duty schedule that includes your changes.


Layers

You can see additional layers or add extra information on the Gantt view of the schedule. As a default we have the route name and pattern of the trip visible on the Gantt.

To apply the layers:

  1. Go to the top left side of the screen and hit Layers.

  2. Select the wanted layer.

    • Start and End time

    • Break Duration- with this option you can see the layover time in between stops.

The layover that you cannot see in the schedule can be viewed by zooming in the schedule


Undo and Redo Actions

You can also use Undo to reverse your last change or Redo your changes as shown below:

You can see the history of your changes by clicking on the icon:

You can also use Ctrl + Z and Ctrl + Y to undo/redo your changes.
