Hastus data export requires several actions in order to be able to load and use it in the Optibus platform.
The data export includes 7 CSV files, which can produce the following:
Dataset format which requires: "Trips”, “Places”, TimePoints”, ReliefPoints” and “VehicleTypes”
The “Block” file will be used as our schedule.
The “Deadhead” file will be the deadhead catalog.
Some files may require additional validation due to missing or incomplete data in the agency’s Hastus system. If you encounter this scenario, you will be required to complete these records in order to upload them into Optibus.
In case the data is complete and you made sure no corrections are needed, you can proceed to upload the files into Optibus.
Processing Hastus export into Optibus format
Creating the dataset
Start by creating a new excel spreadsheet and copy each file (“Trips”, “Places”, TimePoints”, ReliefPoints” and “VehicleTypes”) to a different tab in the same excel file. Each tab will be named the same as the copied file.
The next stage will be validating the data - check there are no 'blanks' at the distances, vehicle types and also make sure there is no duplicate information.
Creating the schedule
Save the “Block” file as .xlsx file to your computer, and validate there is no missing data.
The missing data will most likely be related to the “Required Vehicle Type”, “Actual Vehicle Type” and “Distance” columns - please make sure to check those.
If all validations passed, the schedule will be uploaded. If not, you might be required to make additional adjustments according to the system notification.
Creating the deadhead catalog
In the same manner, as you created the block schedule, save the “Deadhead” file as .xlsx file to your computer, as it contains the deadhead catalog received from Hastus. Validate the data by making sure there are no missing records
The DH catalog has 4 mandatory columns that must contain data - "Origin Stop ID", "Destination Stop ID", "Travel Time" and "Distance"
