The Planning product is where you create timeplans for your project.

In this article, you will learn about the main structure of the planning product.

When you navigate to a project’s planning product you will see a list of timeplans that are located within the planning product as shown below:

When you click into one of the timeplans it will open in the Planning Product screen and you will be directed to the Map tab. The Map tab is the first step in the planning product where you create and edit routes and stops, control and manipulate the shape of a route. The different tabs in the Planning Product are shown in the top right corner. The Map Tab is represented by this icon:

The second tab is called the Route tab, represented by this symbol . It is the second step after creating and editing routes and stops in the Map tab. Here you can manage the patterns and stop properties of the route.

The third tab is called the Running Times tab, represented by this symbol . It is where you define running times for each timepoint segment of the route created in the route tab and set those running times according to the different times of the day (peak and off peak hours).

Note: A trip ID is generated using the trip Start Time as reference. So it would only be generated if trip Start Times are present.

  • By clicking on this icon, you can export different files like the timeplan to either an excel or JSON format, the stop properties in the timeplan, trip stop labels, trip properties and stop catalog:

  • By clicking on this icon , you can add preferences for your timeplan. Preferences allow you to set specific validation rules like control point for your trips, the trip headway etc, and you can then validate them in the timeplan through the validation panel.

Click to open it. The Validation Panel flags any warnings and errors that you might have in the timeplan as shown below:

It helps to minimize any user mistakes and is common across all the three products of the platform: Planning, Scheduling and Rostering.
